Day 1 | Welcome to Lisbon

Depending on arrival time, we’ll begin our journey with a visit to the beautiful National Tile Museum (Museu Nacional do Azulejo). Set inside a former convent, it offers us a wonderful introduction to Portugal’s iconic azulejos, tracing centuries of history through color, craftsmanship, and design. Afterward, we’ll sit down together for lunch at a traditional Portuguese restaurant, where we can enjoy regional specialties—perhaps fresh grilled fish, bacalhau, or a selection of petiscos—paired with local wine. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the historic heart of Lisbon on foot. We’ll stroll through the grand riverside square of Terreiro do Paço (Praça do Comércio) and walk along the Tagus River, taking in the light and atmosphere that make this city so unique. We’ll also visit the impressive Sé de Lisboa, the city’s Romanesque cathedral and one of its oldest landmarks. Later, we’ll head to our hotel for check-in and some time to settle in and relax.

In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner near our hotel—an easy and pleasant way to end our first day together in Lisbon.

Day 2 – Belém Heritage, Colares Wines & Atlantic Coast Scenery

This morning begins in the historic Belém district, at the iconic Mosteiro dos Jerónimos area. We start with a visit to the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of Manueline architecture, deeply connected to Portugal’s Age of Discoveries. Just steps away, we continue to the impressive Monument to the Discoveries, celebrating the great Portuguese navigators who shaped global exploration. Late in the morning, we depart Lisbon and travel toward the charming Colares wine region, one of Portugal’s oldest and most distinctive appellations. Here, we enjoy a private wine tasting featuring the region’s unique sandy-soil vineyards and indigenous grape varieties. Following the tasting, we savor a relaxed lunch at a traditional Portuguese restaurant, where regional flavors and authentic recipes take center stage. In the afternoon, we visit a second carefully selected winery for another tasting experience, offering a different perspective on local production and terroir. We then return to Lisbon via a stunning coastal route. Our scenic drive passes by Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, before continuing along the elegant seaside towns of Cascais and Estoril, known for their Atlantic views, historic charm, and refined atmosphere.

Day 3 – Royal Heritage & The Alentejo Countryside

After check-out, the morning begins with a visit to the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, Lisbon’s neoclassical royal palace, offering a glimpse into the life of the Portuguese monarchy through its richly decorated rooms and impressive collections. We then depart Lisbon for Évora, enjoying a comfortable 90-minute drive into the heart of the Alentejo region. Upon arrival, lunch will be served at a local restaurant, highlighting the authentic flavors of Alentejo cuisine. In the afternoon, we take a leisurely walk through Évora’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include Praça do Giraldo, the remarkably preserved Roman Temple, and other iconic landmarks that reflect the city’s rich Roman and medieval heritage. Later, we head to a nearby estate for a wine tasting experience, discovering the bold and elegant wines that define the Alentejo region. Following the tasting, transfer to your hotel for check-in, and in the evening, enjoy dinner before a restful night in Évora.

Day 4 – Ducal Legacy & Alentejo Wines

This morning we depart Évora and travel to Vila Viçosa to visit the magnificent Paço Ducal (Ducal Palace), the former residence of the Bragança dynasty. This impressive marble-fronted palace offers a fascinating insight into Portuguese royal history, with beautifully preserved rooms, tapestries, and art collections. We then continue into the heart of the Alentejo countryside for a special wine tasting experience at a local estate, where you will enjoy a guided visit to the winery followed by a tasting of regional wines. Lunch will be served at the winemaker, featuring traditional Alentejo flavors paired with estate wines. In the afternoon, we make a stop in Estremoz, a charming town known for its marble architecture, whitewashed houses, and hilltop castle. Enjoy a short stroll through the historic center before returning to the hotel. Evening at leisure to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Alentejo.

Day 5 – Megalithic Wonders & Évora’s Cultural Treasures

This morning we venture just outside Évora to visit the remarkable Almendres Cromlech, one of the largest and oldest megalithic complexes in Europe. Set in a peaceful cork oak landscape, this prehistoric stone circle offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient civilizations that inhabited the region thousands of years ago. We return to Évora for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our exploration of the city’s historic landmarks. In the afternoon, we visit the impressive Évora Cathedral (Sé de Évora), a striking blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, followed by the elegant Paço de São Miguel, a noble residence known for its beautifully preserved interiors and traditional azulejo tiles. Later, we head into the surrounding countryside for another carefully selected wine tasting experience, further discovering the depth and character of Alentejo wines. Return to the hotel. Evening at leisure.

Day 6 – Northern Alentejo Landscapes & Hilltop Villages

This morning we depart Évora and travel north toward the scenic Marvão and Elvas region, an area defined by rolling vineyards, historic fortifications, and sweeping countryside views. Upon arrival, we enjoy a special wine tasting experience at a local estate, followed by a relaxed vineyard picnic lunch, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Alentejo landscape. In the afternoon, we continue exploring the region with visits to Crato and Castelo de Vide, charming towns rich in history and character. Stroll through Castelo de Vide’s picturesque streets and admire its medieval atmosphere and hilltop castle.We then make our way to the spectacular village of Marvão, dramatically perched atop a granite ridge near the Spanish border. From its ancient walls, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the surrounding plains. The day concludes in Portalegre, where we gather for dinner before returning to the hotel.

Day 7 – Leisure, Heritage & Alentejo Flavors

Enjoy a free morning in Évora, allowing time to relax or explore the city at your own pace. Late in the morning, we depart for a special wine tasting experience at a local estate, where we will also enjoy lunch at the winemaker, pairing regional cuisine with estate wines in an authentic Alentejo setting. In the afternoon, we visit the Vila Romana de São Cucufate, one of the most important Roman archaeological sites in Portugal, offering a fascinating glimpse into rural life during the Roman Empire. We then stop at Quinta do Quetzal, an acclaimed wine estate combining contemporary architecture, art, and winemaking excellence. After some time to enjoy the property and its surroundings, we conclude the day with dinner in the area.

Return to the hotel for the evening.
